Community in action: fundraising for women's safety

We were honored to be invited to a special fund-raising International Women's Day event in Surrey, whose theme was intended to highlight the importance of breaking barriers towards a more equal future.

During the event some of those who spoke were ex residents turned Support Workers who shared their experiences and described the role of Refuge and the support it offers for those in crisis.

The guests were treated to a lovely afternoon tea and a fascinating talk by Sky at Night Presenter and Space Scientist Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock which was truly inspirational.

The event raised £3,744 for the Refuge and brought together nearly 100 women.
