EDI is at the heart of what we do at Salvation Army Homes; it really matters to us.
During the year, we have been embedding EDI into the way we do things at Salvation Army Homes:
* Residents walked in the iconic Brighton Pride for the first time
* Signed up to the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge by HouseProud and Stonewall Housing
* We set up an EDI Champions Group
* We became a Menopause Friendly employer
* We updated our recruitment process to include residents more in the selection process and broadened where we advertise jobs to attract a more diverse group of applicants.
* We trained managers to recognise unconscious bias in recruitment decisions
* We filled two apprenticeship roles within our housing and ICT departments.
This policy underpins an organisational culture where it is understood that anyone can experience domestic abuse and feels able to ask for help and support without fear of being judged. It outlines our approach to assisting and supporting anyone experiencing or threatened with domestic abuse.
