Salvation Army Homes is committed to our mission of safe homes, transforming lives. Through this mission we aim to support residents navigate different experiences, opportunities, or difficulties they may face throughout their lives. Our residents are a diverse cross section of the community and include some of society’s most vulnerable.

Support offered includes assisting with education, training and employment opportunities, unexpected financial costs that are causing hardship and costs associated with maintaining relationships with children under the age of 17. Funding is also available to help with costs associated with neighbourhood scheme-based activities.

This support is managed through four different Funds. A summary of the four support funds available is as follows:

The Support Fund

Salvation Army Homes recognises that unexpected expenditure can make life even more difficult for those already struggling financially. The aim of this fund is to provide one-off grants to residents who are faced with a financial crisis or an unexpected expense that might cause undue hardship or impact on the ability to sustain a tenancy. Examples of one-off grants: food vouchers; car repairs; difficulties with utility bills; white goods; essential furniture or funeral expenses.

This fund was set up to provide a lasting legacy with a focus on personal development and training. Residents may apply for up to £250pa towards personal development and up to £500pa for training opportunities. Examples of personal development include travel and/or clothing costs associated with a job, work placement or training interview. Training opportunities include costs associated with course fees.
